EHSC Ltd has acted as the Competent Health & Safety Person for all the UK locations (for the past 3 years). Due to the size & geographical locations around the UK, and our focus of empowering the workforce, EHSC Ltd suggested that Safety Coordinators should be trained & appointed in each location to fulfil the following responsibilities –
- Risk Assessors
- DSE Assessors
- COSHH Assessors
- Man/Handling Assessors
- PPE Assessors
EHSC Ltd also worked with the Senior Management Team to prove this concept was the most economical and beneficial way to drive the correct HS&E culture within SR Technics UK.
It was also agreed with the Senior Management Team that we should give the opportunity to any employee who would like to take on the role of HS&E Manager. We have mentored the selected HS&E Manager over the past 2 years.
The HS&E Manager has recently obtained the necessary qualifications and this change in structure has been very successfully implemented. These changes have shown a real change in culture & ownership of HS&E, which has resulted in –
- A reduction in the number of accidents
- Greater ownership in local areas
- Reduced claims
- Improved PPE (wearing, treatment, feedback and better quality items being purchased due to the commitment from the staff)
